Schon von Diogenes wurde berichtet, dass er auf den selbstgefälligen und wichtigtuerischen Aktionismus der Korinther, als sie einmal von einer Belagerung bedroht waren, mit feiner Ironie reagiert hat, indem er gleichfalls plötzlich ganz geschäftig seine Tonne mit großem Eifer hinauf und hinab durch die Gassen rollte. Gefragt, warum er dies tue, erwiderte er, auch ich bin in Tätigkeit und rolle meine Tonne, auf dass ich nicht der einzige Müßiggänger sei unter so vielen fleißigen Menschen.
